Art History Mornings at The Beecroft Gallery
Saturday 25th August, 10.30am-12.30pm
with Dr ML Banting

The Sensual World:
The Art of Edward Burne-Jones
(The Last Pre-Raphaelite)

Ahead of the up-coming exhibition of Edward Burne-Jones’s work at the Tate Gallery, and the third part of our Pre-Raphaelites series, today we’ll explore the extraordinary paintings of the very  last Pre-Raphaelite: from medieval romances to the mysterious pictures of dreamy beauty, as well as his Arts & Crafts stained glass windows.

Very much over-shadowed by the development of Impressionism, Burne-Jones was nevertheless a radical artist with a lot to say about art and society in the closing decades of Victorian Britain.
